This class is an introduction to the potter’s wheel, focusing on wedging, shaping, trimming, and simple glazing techniques.
Open to all skill levels, ages 16+, no prior experience is required. Demonstrations, group discussions, and one-to-one attention will be given to each student.
Class Schedule:
Weeks 1 – 7: Beginner Wheel, Introduction and practicing of techniques
Week 8: Break for firings (No Class)
Week 9: Glazing class
Potluck and work pick-up date TBD
Classes run for 9 weeks with a break at the end of the session to prepare student work for glazing, giving each student 8 three-hour classes to be introduced to a variety of ceramic techniques and projects. With only 5 openings in this class, students will be given ample hands on direction and guidance, leaving the class with their finished pieces of art and a new appreciation for mud.
All students are invited to participate in a year end gallery exhibition showcasing student work.
